From September 24th to October 2nd, the 5th Asian Beach Games took place in Da Nang, Vietnam with 45 nations sending athletes to compete in the games. Athletes competed in aquatics, athletics, basketball, football, handball, rowing and wrestling, as well as non-Olympic sports such as bodybuilding, ju-jitsu, kabaddi, kurash, muay thai, pencak silat, petanque, sambo, sepaktakraw, vovinam and woodball.

Pencak Silat Team Singapore had a tremendous achievements since last performance in 3rd Asian Beach Games in Bali, Indonesia back in 2008 where the team only brought back 2 bronze whereas this time around the team managed to bring back 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 6 bronze.
